Left-handed pitcher Kai Peterson is back home in California preparing for his 2026 season.
“I’m working out at a facility and at my former junior college,” said Peterson. “The weather has been really nice lately, so I’ve been out there every day throwing bullpens and doing long toss to prepare for the season.”
Peterson finished his 2025 season in the Arizona Fall League where he represented the Toronto Blue Jays’ organization in the Fall Stars Game on November 9th.
“It was a lot of fun, a good experience,” stated Peterson. “I learned a lot of stuff I want to incorporate into my routine. I learned stuff from other organizations, just a lot of stuff to build a foundation for next year.”
“It was an awesome environment to meet guys from other organizations,” Peterson added about the Fall Stars Game. “It was a lot of fun being able to compete against the best hitters in the fall league.”
Pitching 50 1/3 innings between High-A and Double-A in 2025; Peterson finished the season with an ERA of 3.04, 61 K’s, and a WHIP of 1.35.
Using a 4-seam/slider combo has worked well for Peterson in pro ball.
Adding the slider after being drafted, Peterson talks about its development.
“It has made a lot of progress,” explained Peterson. “Especially this off-season, just working on it more and more. It’s getting a little bit more depth to it, so it’s a big pitch for me.”
Peterson takes pride in being tough on lefties, “It was something that really worked out last year just making it harder for them,” stated Peterson. “I think I found a lot more success doing that at the end of last year.”
