Catcher Owen Carapellotti is looking to build off his productive season at the plate this off-season.
Hitting 15 home runs in 2026, Carapellotti is looking to become more of a line drive hitter over the off-season, rather than being just a power bat.
“I’m definitely more of a power hitter than a line drive hitter, but that’s part of my off-season plan,” stated Carapellotti. “I don’t want to be a homer or strikeout guy, so I’m trying to find what gets me to the balance of line drives and damage.”
That pop in his bat showed in his slash line for the 2026 season. Finishing the year with a .239/.362/.546 line with an OPS of .908 after 163 at-bats; shows some real promise at the plate.
While, Carapellotti showed some real power this season, he admits that his plate approach will adjust to the situation.
“My approach changes based on the situation for sure,” explained Carapellotti. “Typically I try to do what the game asks of me, whether it be hit a ground ball to move a runner over or hit a ball in the air to score a guy from third. Overall, my job is to do damage and to get to damage as consistently as possible, so I want something middle in that I can pull and hit hard.”
Carapellotti talks about the pitchers that he faced in the FSL
“I thought the pitchers were pretty similar to what I saw in the California League,” said Carapellotti. “A ton of guys throwing hard, the guys that don’t have absolutely wicked off-speed pitches, the command was better than anything I had faced before. It was great to see how I stacked up against them.”
Keep crushing it, Owen Carapellotti!
