Bradley Wilson Getting Acclimated to Mechanical Changes on the Mound

Right-handed pitcher Bradley Wilson went through a mechanical change during the 2026 season.

“It was really trying to get into my back hip and keep my front side closed longer,” explained Wilson. “I was able to do that, thankfully.”

Wilson’s mechanical change started with Low-A Dunedin and it felt better for the righty when he joined High-A Vancouver in August.

Pitching 54 2/3 innings in 2026; Wilson finished the year with 51 K’s and a WHIP of 1.61.

The righty uses a five-pitch mix of: a 4-seam fastball, a sinker, a cutter, a sweeper, and a changeup.

Currently working out of the bullpen, Wilson primarily uses a sinker, a cutter, and a sweeper.

“I feel those pitches keep the hitters off-balance,” stated Wilson. “It’s also one of those things where I’m learning to throw what pitch when. Having five pitches is nice but it’s not if you don’t know when to throw them. I’m still trying to learn and ask questions about that to be more consistent.”

Working exclusively out of the bullpen is something that Wilson enjoys, “It’s usually one of those things where you’re trying to keep the lead or not let them score so you can go back in and score,” said Wilson. “Personally, I like the bullpen better because I always felt I put too much pressure on myself whenever I started a game. For me, it relaxes my mind a little bit.”

Getting a brief taste of High-A hitters this season, Wilson feels they have better eyes at the plate.

“They have better eyes I’d say,” stated Wilson. “They take some pitches that I think are good which they obviously didn’t want to swing at. You have to come up with different ways to get them out. We have scouting reports on them, they have scouting reports on us, so it’s a chess-match out there.”

Wilson has two specific goals for his off-season preparation this winter.

“Obviously, I’d like to throw more strikes that would obviously help a lot,” explained Wilson. “I’d also like to get more consistent with the new mechanical changes we’ve made. I’d like to be better and more consistent with them moving forward.”
