Outfielder Eddie Rosado Jr has been preparing for professional baseball since he was three-years old.
“My Dad has been with me since day one,” said Rosado. “I think back to being three and four years old in the backyard hitting baseballs, in the basement hitting baseballs; he has been with the whole way. He has been my hitting coach my whole career, so just to see me repeat in his footsteps means a ton to him. He’s extremely grateful and proud. The reaction from him yesterday really meant everything to me just seeing him happy.”
His dad’s mentorship goes beyond youth baseball, as the elder Rosado played six seasons of professional baseball himself.
Currently in the same spot as his father, Eddie has received valuable information about life in affiliated baseball.
“He said ‘man it’s a grind’ you have to be ready for it,” explained Rosado. “I’m really excited to get down to Dunedin and start grinding.”
Rosado views himself as a grinder type player who is willing to do whatever the team needs to win.
“I would describe myself as one of the hardest workers in the room at all times,” stated Rosado. “I was raised by my father, he knows it’s a grind, and I’ve been a grinder my whole life. I’m just a grinder ready to go get it.”
Standing 5’11” Rosado uses his smaller frame to his advantage.
“I definitely use my aspects to the game to my advantage,” said Rosado. “I use my speed, bat-to-ball skills – all of that.”
Rosado takes a lot of pride in his speed, “In the outfield, I like to track balls down in the gap. On the base side, just steal a ton of bags.” explained Rosado.
