Right-handed pitcher Braydon Fisher is looking to build off his impressive rookie season when he reports to spring training in Dunedin this upcoming weekend.
“My personal goals for 2026 are just staying myself, and building off of who I was last season,” said Fisher. “Basically just growing more consistent as the year goes on.”
Pitching 50 innings with the Blue Jays’ in 2025; Fisher finished the year with a 7-0 record, a 2.70 ERA, 62 K’s, and a WHIP of 1.02.
The righty also had a WAR of 1.4 which shows how much trust the coaching staff had in Fisher during some high-leverage situations.
“My takeaways from being in the majors is that you do absolutely whatever you can to help your team win that day,” explained Fisher. “You don’t feel good? Doesn’t matter if you can get outs then you’re going to pitch that day. It’s amazing. In the minors there’s much more of a ‘development’ vibe.”
Currently using a four-pitch mix of: a 4-seam fastball, a cutter, a slider, and a curveball; Fisher relies heavily on his two breaking balls every outing.
“I use my breaking balls so much simply because they’re my best pitches,” explained Fisher. “I locate them better, they get swing-and-miss, and they induce weak contact.”
Fisher really enjoyed his opportunity to pitch in the postseason.
“The playoff run was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life,” explained Fisher. “The intensity, and importance of every single moment was amazing, and something I’ll yearn for every season.”
And that playoff experience leads directly to Fisher’s 2026 team goal.
“My team goal is to win more games than last year, and give ourselves another chance at a World Series championship!”
