Infielder Charles McAdoo is working out at San Jose State University this off-season to help him prepare for the 2026 season.
“I’m back where I went to college,” said McAdoo. “It’s nice to have a central location where I can hit, lift, and field.”
Slashing .247/.318/.413 with an OPS of .731 after 445 at-bats for New Hampshire; McAdoo talks about the adjustments he made to the pitching at the Double-A level.
“The coaches felt I was swinging too much early in the season,” explained McAdoo. “They felt I was looking for too many pitches in too many spots, so we tried to minimize that. I cut down on how much I was swinging and minimized those spots where I was missing.”
“The pitchers just have a better feel for the ball overall in Double-A,” McAdoo added. “They can control and locate their pitches well and I just needed to adapt to what I was seeing.”
Splitting time between first base and third base in 2025; McAdoo talks about his development in the field.
“It’s going pretty good,” stated McAdoo. “I played mostly third base this year but I also felt I got better at first base even though my time there was limited. I felt I developed well at both positions over the year.”
McAdoo feels he has a good reaction time at third base and he’s also comfortable moving into plays at first base.
“I played first base a lot when I was a little bit younger in college,” said McAdoo. “So, first base isn’t new to me, it just took a little time to get the rust off and I was good to go.”
The prospect got into a major league game during spring training and hit a home run.
“It was awesome,” stated McAdoo. “It was a surreal moment. I was taken aback by how it felt. I don’t think I’ve ever felt anything like that in my life.”
Be sure to watch for Charles McAdoo in 2026, as he looks to build off his successful 2025 season.
