Right-handed pitcher Grant Rogers had a big year on the mound in 2025. Pitching 150 1/3 innings split between High-A and Double-A; Rogers talks about his durability on the mound.
“I feel it’s having a plan and knowing what your goal is for the end of the year,” Rogers said of his durability. “Having your preparation down helps a lot for sure.”
Finishing his season with 115 K’s and a WHIP of 1.25; Rogers doesn’t feel he has a specific strikeout pitch.
“I’d say my strikeouts come from a good mix of all of my pitches,” explained Rogers. “I’d say the splitter is one I use a lot.”
Rogers features five other pitches besides his splitter, which includes: a 4-seam fastball, a sinker, a cutter, a changeup, and a sweeper.
The righty used to throw from two slots but he’s mostly just throwing over-the-top now.
“Towards the end of the year, I was just using the higher slot,” explained Rogers. “I feel there was a lot of similarity with my pitches from both slots, so I mostly just used the over-the-top by the end of the year.”
The righty feels his pitches tunnel well from the higher slot, “I like mixing up all of my pitches,” said Rogers. “It definitely helps with tunneling and not leaving stuff in the middle.”
Using the over-the-top arm slot is the plan moving forward, “Towards the end of the year I was only using the over-the-top and everything is better from the top,” Rogers added. “I still work with the low slot but everything executes better from the top.”
Be sure to follow Grant Rogers in 2026, as he pitches over-the-top more.
