Infielder Cutter Coffey just finished his time in the Arizona Fall League. Coffey, who slashed .328/.427/.406 with an OPS of .833 after 64 at-bats with Glendale; found the experience helpful towards his development.
“It was a great experience for me playing with a lot of older guys trying to get to the next level,” explained Coffey. “Just seeing how they go about their business both on-and-off the field. It was really good being around them and a great experience all-around.”
Coffey’s time in the AFL came after a solid season with High-A Vancouver.
The prospect slashed .273/.359/.427 with an OPS of .786 after 384 at-bats with the C’s.
“In the fall league you face a lot of Double-A and Triple-A guys,” stated Coffey. “In High-A you face a lot of guys who are bound to be major league pitchers. Every night you’re facing a really good pitcher. It’s good competition in High-A.”
Drafted as a shortstop out of high school, Coffey played more second base and third base in 2025.
“I like being versatile,” said Coffey. “I’m giving the Blue Jays’ the choice of where to put me. I think it’s good for me to be able to play multiple positions. That helps anyone really.”
Playing less SS in 2025 due to Arjun Nimmala being on the team didn’t slow Coffey down.
“I didn’t play much shortstop this year,” Coffey added. “I was on the team with Arjun Nimmala, obviously, but yeah I feel comfortable playing third or second.”
Coffey is back home in Bakersfield training at home and a local facility.
“I have a cage at my house and a facility where I train in Bakersfield.” said Coffey.
