Right-handed pitcher Andrew Bash is making a late season push towards a major league call-up. Bash, who has worked as both a starter and a reliever for Triple-A Buffalo since 2022; feels he just needs to limit his walks for that opportunity to become a reality.
“One little thing I need to work on is the walks,” explained Bash. “That is one thing they really push up there. There are times I have a lot of walks and it’s something I need to cutdown on for a call-up.”
Pitching 73 1/3 innings in 2025; Bash has 60 K’s and a WHIP of 1.39.
The righty uses a four-pitch mix of: a 4-seam fastball, a sinker, a slider, and a changeup.
Bash talks about what he likes about having two fastballs, “I think being able to throw both of those while a guy is in the box,” stated Bash. “It makes it harder for the hitter to pick up which one is coming at them. Especially not just using one early in the count, and one late in the count, but using them whenever.”
He also feels all of his pitches tunnel well off one another, “Yes, they tunnel well of one another,” Bash added. “And the mixes of speeds helps to keep guys off-balance.”
And performing as both a starter and a reliever in Triple-A might help Bash get a September call-up to pitch out of the Toronto Blue Jays’ bullpen.
“Yes, I like both roles,” said Bash. “I’d say there’s a little more adrenaline, a little more get after it out of the bullpen just knowing I have a certain amount of pitches to use that outing.”
Be sure to keep an eye out for Andrew Bash this fall.
