Outfielder RJ Schreck made the jump up to Triple-A Buffalo two months ago. For Schreck, it has been a great opportunity to face elite pitching every outing.
“I think every level you move up, you start to see more concentrated talent,” explained Schreck. “In Triple-A you really see it on the mound where every pitcher knows who they are; their pitches are more refined. It has been a really fun transition, and it has been a fun challenge to tackle.”
“I think it’s cool seeing a lot of guys moving up-and-down from the big league level,” Schreck added. “It’s great being able to test out your talents against guys with four, five, or six years of service time. Every roster we’ve faced has guys with at least a day but also guys with a couple years of service time. It’s always a good challenge to face some of them.”
Currently slashing .267/.400/.484 with an OPS of .884 after 258 at-bats in 2025; Schreck talks about his plate approach this season.
“Every day is a little bit different,” stated Schreck. “We get really good offensive reports here. I plan every day based on the opposing pitcher’s repertoire.”
Another change for the Blue Jays’ #10 prospect this season has been playing in centerfield.
“It has been a while since I played centerfield consistently,” explained Schreck. “Getting that opportunity a couple times a week has been fun and really good for my development.”
The extra space in center doesn’t bother Schreck, as he feels he has better range in CF.
“My range might even be better in center than at the corners,” Schreck added. “Just in the sense of the reads I get off the bats.”
Keep an eye out for RJ Schreck!
