Outfielder Je’Von Ward has found a new home within the Toronto Blue Jays’ system. Ward, who is currently playing for Double-A New Hampshire; got a brief taste of big league camp this past spring.

“I wasn’t there very long but I played in a few games,” Ward recalls. “It’s definitely a different perspective being around the guys and it’s great to see how guys handle their business differently at the major league level.”

Currently slashing .227/.404/.387 with an OPS of .791 after 238 at-bats in 2025; Ward talks about his plate approach.

“I think I’m a guy who can kind of do anything at the plate,” explained Ward. “So, for me, I’m looking for something in the heart of the plate. It doesn’t really matter what the pitch is in a sense, I’m more looking for something in the zone, in a place where I can handle it and adjust from there.”

Ward feels he has good range in the outfield, “It’s nice floating around out there,” stated Ward. “That has been what I’m doing this year and it has been really nice.”

The prospect went through Tommy John surgery as an outfielder.

For Ward, it was an opportunity to get stronger and have a better arm in the outfield.

“Having TJ as an outfielder was definitely interesting at first,” explained Ward. “But it was fine, I came back a little sooner than I thought I was but it was interesting. I got into the weight room and put on some really good weight; it was the year I really got my legs underneath me, I gained weight, added velocity in my arm, and I could really feel it in my body.”

Keep working hard, Je’Von Ward!
