Right-handed pitcher Pat Gallagher made the move to the bullpen at the beginning of the 2025 season.
“It wasn’t something I was intending going into the season,” stated Gallagher. “But I was told at the beginning of the year that I would be coming out of the bullpen, and I accepted the challenge. For now, I feel it’s the best thing for my career moving forward. I’ve seen a lot of success out of the bullpen. It has been awesome.”
Pitching 51 innings so far split between High-A and Double-A: Gallagher has a WHIP of 1.06, an ERA of 1.41, and 59 strikeouts.
As a former starter, Gallagher has a five-pitch repertoire that features: a 4-seam fastball, a sinker, a cutter, a curveball, and a splitter.
The righty has kept all of his pitches in play since moving to the bullpen, “It’s all about the same,” explained Gallagher. “What I enjoy about coming out of the bullpen is you can throw everything right away. There’s nothing that you’re hiding, you’re just trying to get this guy out that you’re up against.”
Another thing he likes is his velo spike from emptying the tank every outing.
“The velo has been up this year which is very good,” said Gallagher. “As a starter, you want to let it eat but in the back of your mind you have to go four or five innings; definitely throwing one or two innings, it allows you to empty the gas tank and throw everything with aggression.”
As a Massachusetts native, Gallagher loves pitching in New England again.
“It has been an absolute blessing seeing family and reconnecting with friends from my hometown,” said Gallagher. “It’s a really cool experience because people want to be there to support me. I’m a big believer in sharing moments with people that you care about.”
Be sure to follow Pat Gallagher, as he continues to pitch well out of the bullpen moving forward.
