Outfielder Davis Schneider is starting to heat up at the plate for Triple-A Buffalo.

“I feel like I’m seeing the ball a lot better,” said Schneider. “I’m way more patient, and calm in the box. I’m getting back to what I was doing well in the previous year.”

In his 105 at-bats since being sent down; Schneider is slashing .210/.328/.410 with an OPS of 738.

Schneider credits his increase in production at the plate to swinging at better pitches.

“I feel like in the big leagues last year and even the beginning of this year, I was swinging a little bit more than I’m used to,” explained Schneider. “Not seeing pitches, I can handle. I’m trying to get back to pitches I can hit hard, working the count, working walks, and making sure I’m putting a good swing on it.”

The prospect even tried to use a torpedo bat while he was in the majors, “I didn’t see a big difference,” stated Schneider. “The barrel is a little bit bigger, but with the way the ball comes off the bat, I didn’t see a big difference. I already use a big barrel, so it wasn’t a big weight jump for me. But I see why people like them. They have a bigger barrel, and who doesn’t like a bigger barrel.”

Growing up as an infielder, Schneider didn’t play much in the outfield until 2023.

Schneider feels comfortable in the outfield now, thanks to the help from some of his teammates in Toronto.

“I didn’t play in the outfield full-time until 2023,” said Schneider. “I feel I’m in a good spot, as I’ve learned from a lot of good outfielders like Daulton Varsho, Kevin Kiermaier, and George Springer. They’ve taught me about good reads, jumps, etc.”

Keep an eye on Davis Schneider, as he continues to heat up with Triple-A Buffalo.
