Joey Loperfido at the plate for the Toronto Blue Jays

Outfielder Joey Loperfido is focusing on his contact at the plate with Triple-A Buffalo. Loperfido, who finished his 2024 season in the majors, feels making better contact at the plate, will help him get back to the big leagues in the near future.

“I think consistent contact at the plate and the quality of that contact is what’s most important to me,” stated Loperfido. “Just continuing to hit the ball hard, hitting the ball with two strikes; will definitely help me get back to Toronto.”

Currently slashing .257/.339/.405 with an OPS of .744 after 148 at-bats in Buffalo; Loperfido talks about his plate approach.

“I think for me, I’m going to be aggressive,” explained Loperfido. “I’m always going to work off the fastball and address it to my part of the plate. I’m looking for good pitches to hit and I’ll try to hit them hard.”

Loperfido feels the margin of error is smaller in the majors, “In Triple-A you might get two or three pitches an at-bat you can hit,” said Loperfido. “In the majors, the margin of error is smaller at-bat to at-bat. In the majors you might get one good pitch to hit an at-bat, and you better not miss it.”

The prospect feels his range is good in the outfield, “I feel comfortable out there,” explained Loperfido. “I’m playing all three outfield spots here in Buffalo. I feel when you do that, it improves your range. I feel I can catch any baseball hit to me out there.”

Loperfido likes playing in center the most, “I love playing center field,” Loperfido added. “Growing up playing center field, you can call everybody off and make the play.”
