Left-handed pitcher Jimmy Burnette spent his off-season down at the PDC in Florida working on his mechanics.
“I spent my off-season down in Florida working out and doing a bunch of stuff at the PDC,” explained Burnette. “I was working with bullpen coach Anthony Gomez there and enjoying the good weather.”
A major focus of Burnette’s off-season was his arm slot, “We were mainly focusing on getting my arm back in slot,” stated Burnette. “And getting my mechanics back to where they used to be.”
“I didn’t change my arm slot,” Burnette added. “I’m getting on time more, not letting it drag behind.”
His hard work during the off-season is paying off, as Burnette is pitching well in 2025.
Pitching 16 1/3 innings so far between Double-A and Triple-A; Burnette has 24 K’s, an ERA of 1.65, and a WHIP of 1.47.
Burnette talks about what he needs to do to stick at Triple-A this season.
“Throwing strikes,” said Burnette. “At any level you have to throw strikes and get ahead in counts. That’s the main thing for me, or any pitcher.”
The lefty hasn’t changed his repertoire this season, as he’s still using a three-pitch mix of: a 4-seam fastball, a slider, and a cutter.
“I haven’t changed my repertoire,” said Burnette. “Just fastball, slider, and cutter. Those three are working well for me.”
Be sure to follow Jimmy Burnette, as he continues to pitch well with better mechanics on the mound.
