Outfielder Alan Roden was assigned to Triple-A Buffalo on May 7th after beginning the year with the Toronto Blue Jays.

“The Blue Jays’ gave me an opportunity to play,” said Roden. “Opportunities to get into the lineup were getting less and less, so coming to Buffalo was about an opportunity to play.”

Roden is making the most of that opportunity, as he’s currently slashing .366/.422/.585 with an OPS of 1.007 after 41 at-bats in Triple-A.

For Roden it’s understanding his approach, and using the information he gained in the majors.

“My approach is constantly changing,” explained Roden. “There’s an adjustment in how I approach at-bats, just by the information I gathered in the big leagues this year. But it’s something you’re constantly learning about, and I’ll keep moving forward with it.”

Roden hasn’t noticed a major difference about playing in the outfield between the majors and minors.

“It’s pretty similar,” Roden said of tracking fly balls. “Sometimes you get a really windy day that can throw you off a bit. I remember one windy day in New York where a ball Dominguez hit was hard to track.”

The prospect feels he just needs to be ready for his next big league opportunity.

“I just need to focus on everything I’ve worked on in pro ball the last three years,” stated Roden. “I just need to be prepared both physically and mentally if that opportunity comes.”

Keep an eye on Alan Roden’s progress in Triple-A, as he makes a push for another opportunity in the majors in 2025.
