Day 2 of the MLB draft will begin today at 2 PM EST.
In honor of the second day of the draft, hear what four of the eight players the Blue Jays’ selected on Day 2 a year ago had to say about their draft day experience.
RHP Juaron Watts-Brown selected in the 3rd round (89th overall) out of Oklahoma State:
“That didn’t go very well,” explained Watts-Brown. “I had actually gone to the draft thinking I was going day one, ended up not going after flying out to Seattle. I sat there without my name getting called, so that was pretty shitty. The first day didn’t go the way I planned, but I was grateful the Blue Jays’ picked me up.”
RHP Landen Maroudis selected in the 4th round (121st overall) out of Calvary Christian HS in Florida:
“My draft experience was great,” stated Maroudis. “It was definitely an exciting two days with the help of many people behind the scenes. At the end of day one, I had an idea of where I was going to go day two, so I was able to just relax with my family and enjoy the moment.”
OF Braden Barry selected in the 8th round (244th overall) out of West Virginia University:
“It was really surreal,” recalled Barry. “That was a moment I’ve dreamed of since I was a little kid. I couldn’t be more proud to be a member of the Blue Jays’ organization.”
RHP Josh Mollerus selected in the 10th round (304th overall) out of the University of Oregon:
“My advisor called saying the Jays’ and another team or two were interested in me,” explained Mollerus. “45 minutes later one of my friends texted Go Jays, so I checked the draft tracker and saw I was picked.”
