Left-handed pitcher Ricky Tiedemann is back with Triple-A Buffalo after a brief rehab stint with Low-A Dunedin. Tiedemann, who began the year with Buffalo talks about the differences he has noticed in Triple-A compared to the lower levels.
“There’s not too many differences,” said Tiedemann. “I think in Triple-A the game is a little bit smarter, it’s a little more crispy; but you see that as the levels go on especially from Low-A all the way to Triple-A. In Triple-A, you see how guys treat the game, the veteran aspect also comes into play both at the plate and on the mound.”
Pitching 17 1/3 innings to date in 2024; Tiedemann has 27 K’s and he’s holding opposing hitters to a .206 average against him.
Tiedemann uses a three-pitch mix of: a 4-seam fastball, a slider, and a changeup.
The lefty feels his pitches are currently in a good spot, “I think they’re in a good spot,” explained Tiedemann. “Obviously, there’s a little fine-tuning that can be done but there’s a lot that goes into it, just being able to stay in the zone is something big for me, so I’m trying to get there and stay there.”
The prospect likes where his fastball is at development wise, “It’s good,” Tiedemann added. “I think it could be in the zone a little bit more as well all of my pitches but you know, you have to keep working at it and figuring it out as the weeks go by and hopefully it can lock in at the right time.”
Be sure to follow Ricky Tiedemann’s progress in 2024, as he looks for a potential major league call-up.
