Left-handed pitcher Brendon Little came over to the Toronto Blue Jays’ organization last November via trade with the Chicago Cubs. Little, who didn’t know much about the organization at first, fell in love with his new opportunity once he reported to Dunedin for spring training.
“It was definitely a huge shock,” explained Little. “I really didn’t know much about the Blue Jays besides they’re an AL East contending team.”
“I absolutely loved it once I got down to Dunedin,” Little added. “Not only is the facility gorgeous, the staff and everyone is amazing; but the communication in this organization is awesome!”
Little made an impact down in Dunedin by staying on the big league roster until March 23rd when he was optioned to Triple-A Buffalo.
And his excellent pitching this spring has transitioned to Buffalo, as he has 10 K’s, a WHIP of 1.05, and opposing hitters are only managing a stingy .095 average against Little in April.
Getting ahead of hitters early with his three-pitch mix of: a sinking fastball, a cutter, and a curveball; Little talks about how he uses his repertoire.
“I try to get ahead with the sinker and the cutter and put guys away with the curveball for the most part,” explained Little. “That’s kind of a known secret but I really try to pound the zone with the sinker and cutter.”
The lefty likes how his pitches tunnel off one another, “I think the cutter and sinker really splits the plate,” stated Little. “I try to create as much separation between those two and my curve isn’t one that pops up much, so I hope they can all tunnel in straight.”
Be sure to follow Brendon Little’s progress with Buffalo, as he looks to get back to the majors in 2024.
