Right-handed pitcher Alek Manoah made a rehab start for Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday, where he pitched 3 1/3 innings; allowing eight hits, while striking out four.
“I thought I threw the ball well,” said Manoah. “Most of the hits were singles. At the end of the day, my stuff was in the zone, the ball was moving well; you’re going to have better results than worse when that happens. I felt good about the way I was attacking.”
Manoah threw 78 pitches on the day focusing mostly on his 4-seam fastball that was sitting at 93-94, and his slider which was sharp.
For Manoah, it was about competing again, “I think the biggest thing is when you’re rehabbing, you’re competing,” stated Manoah. “For me, I have been feeling well, so it was about going out there and competing.”
The righty shared his biggest takeaways from the day, “No HBPs, one walk at the end, but for the most part I was in the zone,” explained Manoah. “When there were three ball counts, I was able to make pitch-to-pitch adjustments which will be huge.”
Alek Manoah will be back in Toronto soon.
