Left-handed pitcher Naswell Paulino made the transition to the bullpen during the 2022 season. Paulino, who started the year as a member of Vancouver’s rotation moved to the bullpen mid-season.
“It was a season of ups and downs,” explained Paulino. “But as the season progressed, I was getting better every day, learning a new role and adapting to doing the best possible job when needed.”
“None of this would have been possible without the support of my teammates and coaches.” Paulino added.
Finishing his season with 87 K’s and a WHIP of 1.36 in his 86 1/3 innings of work was a good sign for Paulino who was in his first season of High-A.
Having success on the mound with a three-pitch mix of a fastball, a slider, and a splitter; has worked well for the lefty.
Paulino talks about his fastball, “My fastball plays well up because it has good spin and vertical movement too,” stated Paulino. “2450+ and 17-20 V sometimes it’s going to the plate rising with a little cut and the same velo.”
And with the 2022 season in the books, Paulino wants to work on his pitches more this off-season so he can continue to succeed in his new role.
“My plans are trying to get more velo and increment the strike% of my fastball and pitch design,” said Paulino. “I’m trying to be consistent and nasty with the slider and splitter. Being more consistent with both of those pitches will help my performance next year.”
Be sure to follow Naswell Paulino next season, as he continues to work hard in his new role.
