Right-handed pitcher Jared DiCesare is ready for the challenges of pro ball. DiCesare, who spent the past three seasons at George Mason University has logged 184 innings at the collegiate level prior to joining the Blue Jays as their 17th round pick.
In his time at George Mason, DiCesare recorded 143 K’s, while maintaining a WHIP of 1.21.
DiCesare credits his fastball location as a major factor to his success on the mound.
“I work off my fastball by locating it well,” explained DiCesare. “I tend to go in-and-out and stay down in the zone. This allows for my off-speed to overlay well, especially my changeup.”
But DiCesare features more than his 4-seam fastball, and changeup, as the prospect also features a breaking ball that he tries to use every outing.
All three of his pitches will be on display soon in the Blue Jays organization.
And, as expected, DiCesare is excited for the opportunity to join a professional club in the upcoming weeks.
“I’m excited to start a new journey with an awesome organization and get to know some great guys,” stated DiCesare. “It’s going to be fun to work with the Blue Jays in their facilities and get better and compete every day.”
And working hard is in his blood, as his father always pushed him hard both on-and-off the field.
“My dad was always my biggest supporter along with my mom and sister,” said DiCesare. “My dad has always pushed me to be the best player and person I can be. He has taught me to constantly work hard at everything I do.”
Be sure to lookout for Jared DiCesare, as he’ll be pitching with one of the Blue Jays affiliates soon.
