Right-handed pitcher Mike Pascoe is trying to be a reliable reliever this season in Lansing.
Unfortunately, he has dealt with a little adversity early, as Pascoe has allowed six earned runs in 9 innings pitched so far in 2019.
While, he works hard at improving that – he’ll continue to strikeout batters at a good clip.
In fact, Pascoe has already fanned 13 batters in 2019 which comes from his ability to attack the strike zone early with fastballs.
“I like to make a really good pitch with my fastball early in the count, so I can set up my breaking pitches,” explained Pascoe. “After the hitter has seen a well-located fastball it makes his job much harder.”
That formula seems to be working early for Pascoe who also features: a slider, and a changeup in his repertoire.
Pascoe will continue to work hard at keeping hitters off-balance when his name gets called from the bullpen moving forward.
Loving the adrenaline rush that comes with the position; Pascoe talks about what he likes best about his bullpen role.
“I love the rush of coming into a tight game in the later innings and pouring my heart out for my team,” said Pascoe. “It’s an amazing feeling!”
Another thing that is helping Pascoe is keeping a consistent mindset for continued success in pro ball.
“The mental approach you have on a daily basis is huge for success at the professional level,” stated Pascoe. “I’ve worked very hard to have a consistent mindset going into every outing no matter the adversity I may face.”
Fans of the Toronto Blue Jays will definitely want to follow Mike Pascoe’s progress this season in Lansing.
