Daniel Norris, Javier Avendano Key in 6-0 Win

The Lansing Lugnuts finished up their four-game series against the Lake County Captains in epic fashion on Monday night with a 6-0 victory, which was made possible by great pitching from Daniel Norris and Javier Avendano.

Norris went six innings only allowing two hits both singles while striking out four and walking one. Norris would leave the game with a 0-0 tie. Javier Avendano would come in for the last three innings allowing no hits while striking out four and walking one to pick up his 8th win of the season.

The Lugnuts bats came alive in the bottom of the seventh with a six run surge that began with a Santiago Nessy one out walk. First baseman Jordan Leyland would follow with another walk. Right fielder Chris Hawkins doubled scoring Nessy and moving Leyland to third. Designated Hitter Carlos Ramirez followed with a two RBI single. Third baseman Jason Leblebljian would reach on a fielding error on Lake County third baseman Zack McPhee. Center fielder Dalton Pompey would than single scoring Ramirez and moving Leblebljian to third. With Emilio Guerrero at the plate Pompey stole second. Guerrero picked up an RBI on a sacrifice fly to center bringing Leblebljian home and advancing Pompey to third. Pompey would then cross the plate on a Dwight Smith Jr. RBI single for the sixth and final run of the game.

The Lugnuts will begin a three game series against the Great Lakes Loons at Dow Diamond in Midland Michigan on Wednesday night at 7:05 PM.
