With the 17th pick of the MLB Draft Monday night, the Toronto Blue Jays selected outfielder D.J. Davis out of Stone County High School in Wiggins, Mississippi. The nineteen year old has been heralded throughout the draft as one of the fastest players available, and can be seen as a gap-to-gap hitter who could hit for a good average.
Davis, who was profiled on jays Prospects this week as a possible choice for the Jays, has the type of speed that cannot be overlooked when analyzing his scouting report – he is seriously said to have absolutely blinding speed, posting an unofficial 60 yard dash time of 6.4 seconds. This young talent, who hits and throws left, will be a future candidate for stolen base leaders in the MLB. We would like to congratulate DJ Davis as the newest JaysProspect to enter the organization.
