Blue Jays Minor League Transactions: September 5-11
September is a fun time in the minors and this time, Iain Sutherland (@Iainsut) is covering the week of September 5th to 11th in the Blue Jays minor league system. Some players get to experience the post season (and apparently some get to twice), some get a chance to show what they have to Toronto, and one player showed he was a bonehead and is going to have to sit for 50 games.
September 5
- New Hampshire Fisher Cats activated RHP Deck McGuire from the 7-Day disabled list.
As Deck (@deckmcguire) himself said, this wasn’t a serious issue and now has been reactivated and gets to enjoy the post season with the Fisher Cats.
September 6
- Toronto Blue Jays called up RF Adam Loewen from Las Vegas 51s.
- Toronto Blue Jays recalled Brad Mills from Las Vegas 51s.
- Toronto Blue Jays called up RHP Chad Beck from Las Vegas 51s.
- Toronto Blue Jays called up RHP Danny Farquhar from Las Vegas 51s.
- Toronto Blue Jays recalled David Cooper from Las Vegas 51s.
- Dunedin Blue Jays placed RHP Justin Phillabaum on the 7-Day disabled list.
- Kevin Pillar assigned to Vancouver Canadians from Bluefield Blue Jays.
- Toronto Blue Jays recalled Kyle Drabek from Las Vegas 51s.
- C Luis Hurtado assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Las Vegas 51s.
- Toronto Blue Jays outrighted P.J. Walters to Las Vegas 51s.
- Tyler Ybarra assigned to Vancouver Canadians from Bluefield Blue Jays.
A very busy day, with Adam Loewen, Brad Mills, Chad Beck, Danny Farquhar, David Cooper and Kyle Drabek all receiving the call to help Toronto out for September. To make room on the 40 man roster P.J. Walters was outrighted off the 40 man roster to Las Vegas. Kevin Pillar (@KPILLAR4) and Tyler Ybarra managed to get a double dose of post season by first playing with Bluefield and then helping out Vancouver in their run at a title.
September 7
- Tucker Jensen assigned to Bluefield Blue Jays from Lansing Lugnuts.
- Lansing Lugnuts activated RHP Tyler Powell from the temporarily inactive list.
Tucker Jensen (@Tucker_Jensen) makes one last bounce for the year (hopefully) and lands back on the Bluefield roster, so likely this is where he’ll stick until next spring.
September 8
- Dunedin Blue Jays activated OF Chris Hopkins from the 7-Day disabled list
Chris Hopkins (@chop510) comes back off the disabled list, but is already done for the year.
September 9
- Ajay Meyer assigned to Vancouver Canadians from Bluefield Blue Jays.
- GCL Blue Jays placed OF Melvin Garcia on the restricted list.
Ajay Meyer is another post season double-dipper joins Vancouver to help them cap off their post season run. However, the season did not end so well for Melvin Garcia being placed on the restricted list due to a 50-game suspension for having tested positive for amphetamines.
September 10
- OF Colby Rasmus assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
Colby Rasmus horns in on the post season action with a rehab stop with New Hampshire and likely will be back with Toronto in a couple of days.
And that covers the transactions in the Blue Jays minor league system for this week.
