Time again for Iain Sutherland (@Iainsut) to check out the state of transactions in the Blue Jays minor league system.  This time he’ll be covering August 15 to 21st.  In this one, the pastor is heading for the present, Jensen is likely Tuckered out, and won wonders if Derrick Loveless is actually ’Loveless’ in Dunedin? 

August 15

  • Darin Mastroianni assigned to Las Vegas 51s from New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
  • Toronto Blue Jays recalled Mike McCoy from Las Vegas 51s.

Darin Mastroianni again bounces back to Las Vegas from the Fisher Cats and Mike McCoy, King of Air Miles, returns to Toronto.

August 16

  • Toronto Blue Jays called up LHP Rommie Lewis from Las Vegas 51s.
  • Wes Etheridge assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Dunedin Blue Jays.
  • Toronto Blue Jays called up LHP Wil Ledezma from Las Vegas 51s

Wes Etheridge, after putting up very impressive numbers as closer for Dunedin, makes the jump to New Hampshire.  You might say the Pastor is on a mission (okay, must stop with the puns).  Wil Ledezma, after a very short stay off the 40-man roster, returns to Toronto with Rommie Lewis.

August 17

  • OF Derrick Loveless assigned to GCL Blue Jays.
  • OF Jacob Anderson assigned to GCL Blue Jays.
  • RHP Jeremy Gabryszwski assigned to GCL Blue Jays.
  • GCL Blue Jays released LHP Kenllie Santana.
  • GCL Blue Jays released LHP Leandro Mella.
  • OF Ronald Melendez assigned to Bluefield Blue Jays from GCL Blue Jays

Newly-signed Derrick Loveless joins the GCL Blue Jays. To quote him, @DerrickLove1, states: “Roses really smell like poo poo poo.” With that said, Derrick is likely ‘Loveless” in Dunedin.  Joining him is his roommate, Jake Anderson (@Jake_Anderson22).

August 18

  • Toronto Blue Jays optioned LHP Brad Mills to Las Vegas 51s.
  • LHP Brian Tallet assigned to Dunedin Blue Jays.
  • RHP Daniel Webb assigned to GCL Blue Jays.
  • RHP David Johnson assigned to Las Vegas 51s.
  • Las Vegas 51s placed RHP Robert Ray on the 7-Day disabled list.
  • RHP Tucker Jensen assigned to GCL Blue Jays from Bluefield Blue Jays.

Tucker Jensen approaching 170 innings on the year returns the GCL, likely to a lighter work load to finish the season.  Brian Tallet in his return to the Jays is working his way back on rehab assignment and likely will be back with Toronto in September.  David Johnson joins the Blue Jays system as his third organization in two years and appears to be bullpen filler for the 51s.  Brad Mills returns to the 51s and essentially takes the roster spot of Robert Ray while he’s on the DL.

August 19

  • RHP Brady Dragmire assigned to GCL Blue Jays.
  • RHP Colby Broussard assigned to Bluefield Blue Jays from GCL Blue Jays.
  • Toronto Blue Jays recalled Joel Carreno from New Hampshire Fisher Cats

Brady Dragmire joins the system and gets about 10 days in the GCL before it breaks up for the season.  Colby Broussard, @catchmyballs18, put up some really solid numbers in GCL and gets to finish the season in Bluefield.  Joel Carreno gets his first cup of coffee in Toronto, perhaps to stay for a full meal?

August 20

  • Casey Lawrence assigned to Dunedin Blue Jays from Lansing Lugnuts.
  • Lansing Lugnuts activated RHP Daniel Webb from the 7-Day disabled list.
  • Drew Hutchison assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Dunedin Blue Jays.
  • Kyle Davies assigned to Las Vegas 51s from Toronto Blue Jays.

Casey Lawrence, @caseylawrence , another frequent flier recently stated: “Nothing like waiting 3 1/2 hours until my next flight! #naptime #thatguysleepinginthecorner.” He recently arrived safely in Dunedin.  Drew Hutchison, (@1DrewHutch), makes his second bump up the ladder having started the season in Lansing and now finishing in New Hampshire.  Kyle Davies joins the 51s after he was released from the Royals a couple of weeks ago.

One more week and we’ll be seeing the minor league seasons wrap up and for a few lucky players a chance to play in the majors for a month.  For others, this may be the end of the road with the Blue Jays’ organization.
