It’s yet time again to take a look at the Blue Jays minor league system to see who is on the move.  This time Iain Sutherland (@IainSut) is covering the week of June 27 to July 3 (with one July 4th since it’s of significance to the parent club).  Now that the lower clubs have had their rosters filled it’s going to be easier to look a little closer at the transaction records without all the clutter.

June 27th

  • Las Vegas 51s placed LHP Sean Henn on the 7-Day disabled list retroactive to June 23, 2011.
  • Ronald Uviedo assigned to Las Vegas 51s from New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
  • Lansing Lugnuts placed RHP Matt Fields on the 7-Day disabled list retroactive to June 26, 2011.
  • Uviedo in this case is a direct replacement for Sean Henn while he’s on the disabled list.

June 28th

  • Matt Newman assigned to Vancouver Canadians from GCL Blue Jays.
  • Toronto Blue Jays recalled Brett Cecil from Las Vegas 51s.
  • Toronto Blue Jays optioned Zach Stewart to New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
  • Lansing Lugnuts activated LHP John Anderson from the 7-Day disabled list.

A notable day as far as the big club was concerned with Zach Stewart after a taste of the big leagues being returned to New Hampshire to hone his craft.  Coming back up to Toronto, Brett Cecil to see if he has indeed made the required adjustments to stick again at the major league level.  John Anderson fills the hole left by Matt Fields going on  the disabled list the previous day.

June 29th

  • New Hampshire Fisher Cats placed LHP Evan Crawford on the 7-Day disabled list retroactive to June 27, 2011.

June 30th

  • B.J. LaMura assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Las Vegas 51s.
  • Las Vegas 51s activated RF Travis Snider from the 7-Day disabled list.
  • Las Vegas 51s activated LHP Sean Henn from the 7-Day disabled list.
  • Lansing Lugnuts placed LHP Sean Nolin on the 7-Day disabled list.
  • RHP Scott Gracey assigned to Lansing Lugnuts from Dunedin Blue Jays.
  • RHP Bryan Longpre assigned to Lansing Lugnuts from Vancouver Canadians.
  • Ricardo Guillen assigned to DSL Blue Jays from Toronto Blue Jays.
  • RHP Dariel Tiburcio assigned to DSL Blue Jays.

This was a rather busy day.  To make room for Sean Henn returning from the DL B.J. LaMura was demoted to the Fisher Cats.  Travis Snider was also activated for the disabled list having recovered from his concussion symptoms, likely filling the roster spot left by Brett Cecil 2 days before. LaMura in New Hampshire takes the place of Evan Crawford who went on the DL the previous day.

July 1st

  • OF Justin Jackson assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Dunedin Blue Jays.
  • Jonathan Diaz assigned to Dunedin Blue Jays from Las Vegas 51s.
  • LHP Luillyn Guillen assigned to DSL Blue Jays.

This would be a red letter day for Justin Jackson finally making the jump to AA on hat looks to be a more permanent basis.  Jackson had languished between high A and Lansing and may have finally turned a corner to move forward. Jonathan Diaz is bouncing around a lot this year moving down from Las Vegas to Dunedin which has him now having visited all three of the top clubs in the system this year.

July 2nd

  • Joe Bowen assigned to New Hampshire Fisher Cats from Dunedin Blue Jays.
  • Yan Gomes assigned to Las Vegas 51s from New Hampshire Fisher Cats.
  • Las Vegas 51s placed C Ryan Budde on the 7-Day disabled list.
  • RHP Jesse Litsch assigned to Las Vegas 51s.
  • RHP Dustin McGowan assigned to Dunedin Blue Jays.

Catcher Yan Gomes moved up to cover the hole left by Ryan Budde while on the DL.  In a domino move Joe Bowen moved up from Dunedin to fill Yan Gomes spot.  The other significant moves for the day include Jesse Litsch moving up to Las Vegas in the last stage of his rehab assignment.  The other one of interest is Dustin McGowan finally coming of the disabled list for game action for the first time since 2008.

July 3rd

  • Toronto Blue Jays recalled 2B Mike McCoy from Las Vegas 51s.
  • Las Vegas 51s activated LF Darin Mastroianni from the 7-Day disabled list.
  • Lansing Lugnuts placed CF Markus Brisker on the 7-Day disabled list.
  • Eli Boike assigned to Lansing Lugnuts from Vancouver Canadians.
  • Tim Mahler assigned to Dunedin Blue Jays from GCL Blue Jays.

Mike McCoy collects a bunch more Air Miles heading back up to Toronto and Darin Mastroianni takes his roster spot coming off the disabled list.  Eli Boike is fast making his way up the system filling in for Markus Brisker in the outfield in Lansing.

July 4th

  • Toronto Blue Jays recalled RF Travis Snider from Las Vegas 51s.

And, yes this should really be part of next week’s report, but I felt it was of enough interest to include it.  Welcome back to the big club Travis.

And that concludes the look at the transactions from the previous week.
